The Journey of Starting an Online Store from Scratch – EVOD Men's Shoes’ Story

If you’ve read About Us, you already know that finding a quality, affordable pair of shoes is still a challenge. Even though men’s fashion options are expanding, it remains difficult to find high-quality leather shoes at reasonable prices. That’s exactly why I decided to create EVOD Men’s Shoes—an online store dedicated to helping men find stylish, comfortable, and affordable leather shoes.

Once I had the idea to start a brand, I prepared over the next six months. I spent some time on the factory floor, learning about the process of crafting leather shoes, studying every step from selecting different types of leather to understanding various production techniques. I learned how to assess leather quality, negotiated directly with factories and leather suppliers about minimum order quantities, shipment terms, and price. Even packaging decisions were carefully considered. All of this not only laid a solid foundation for the brand but also gave me a deep understanding of the complexities and challenges in the industry.

Starting a business is never easy, but with passion and a clear vision, even the biggest obstacles can become stepping stones to success. When building EVOD Men's Shoes, we chose to focus on an online store rather than launching a physical shop or investing in a warehouse at the outset. In a high-cost city like Hong Kong, the online model significantly reduces operating costs, ultimately allowing us to offer more competitive pricing. We understand that fair pricing is crucial for our customers, and an online store provides us the flexibility to reduce costs while maintaining a high cost-performance ratio.

In addition, since customers can’t physically try on our shoes, product photography becomes the only first impression. We aim to showcase each pair from multiple angles, capturing the texture and fine details through our lenses. Our goal is for customers to appreciate the depth and quality of each shoe through the photos alone.

Throughout this journey, we’ve learned a lot from customer feedback, which has helped us grow continuously. Many customers shared their ideas and suggestions early on, which inspired us to expand our product range to include sneakers alongside classic leather shoes. Some suggestions, such as larger shoe sizes, more color options, combat boots, and leather care products, are already in our plans, but they will take time to implement. We also introduced more payment options, including Payme, FPS, and Alipay, to make the shopping experience more convenient. Even our packaging has been refined based on customer feedback to ensure each pair arrives safely, with a stylish and thoughtful design.

Starting EVOD Men’s Shoes from scratch has been a challenging yet incredibly rewarding journey. We don’t take shortcuts, and despite facing various difficulties, we remain committed to our vision: providing fashionable shoes at affordable prices without compromising on quality. We look forward to the future and promise to keep improving, guided by your feedback.
